Featured Web Site: Atlanta Chapter

This month we are featuring the Atlanta Chapter Web Site.

Some highlights of the Atlanta Chapter web site:

  • Home page begins with a quote from Society Executive Vice President Jim Marks.

  • To promote registrations, current CPCU, ARM and INS classes and start dates are headlined on the home page.

  • Speakers Bureau promoted on home page - link to request a Speaker

  • “Check out the latest from your Chapter President” (past messages are archived)

  • Champion of the Month: Colemont Insurance Brokers featured with nice photo

  • Recognition of chapter members serving on Society task forces, Section committees or as NLI/Technical Workshop faculty

  • Monthly Meetings button allows on-line registration through Paypal.

  • Great early notice of I-Day: “Upcoming Events” includes a link to 2007 I-Day which will be held in October (members can put on their Outlook or get a “remind me” notice)

  • “Historical View” includes listing of Atlanta Chapter past presidents

  • “Exam Classes” area includes syllabus for classes being offered. Also allows members to volunteer to be instructors and to “let us know what part you would like us to offer and in what part of Atlanta.”

  • Industry Links

This is a busy chapter using their web site to get news and current information out to the membership. This web site provides many interactive opportunities for members to get more information and to give feedback to the chapter. Congratulations to Elise Farnham, CPCU, as well as chapter administrator Myra Whorton, and all the Atlanta chapter members who contribute to this ever growing and interesting web site. Elise and Myra recently traveled to Malvern for webmaster training.

Webmaster’s Tip:
Elise says: “It takes some time to get organized and Leslie Higgins gave us great support and creative ideas. The website has become our chapter's primary communication tool. With travel schedules and pressing job requirements, we have 3 web administrators so that items can be posted timely. Under the leadership of Larry Peterson, CPCU and Atlanta Chapter past president, we made the conversion from an outside vendor to using the Society’s platform. The time involved was well worth it, we get great support from Malvern, and we have found that our programs are more successful with our website as our major promotion and communications tool.”
