| We are featuring the Boston
Chapter web site.
Some
highlights of the Boston Chapter web site:
-
Current
news very evident on home page: June speaker, installation of
2007-2008 chapter officers, July new designee reception, etc.
-
Updated
calendar including November I-Day/Conferment. “Next 5
Events” feature.
-
Committee
page for each chapter committee or task force includes committee
charter and committee news. All committees use similar template—easy
for users!
-
Education
Committee page includes CPD program info, and recognizes chapter
members who are CPD qualified.
-
Great
use of photography throughout! Photography livens up committee
pages. “Picture this” button leads to chapter slide
show(s).
-
Newsletter
archive for “The Boston Beat.”
-
Chapter
History includes a great narrative and listing of chapter past
presidents.
-
Hit
counter tracks web site visits for the chapter.
-
Behind
the scenes, webmaster maintains extensive chapter archives that
can be accessed and re-published as needed.
Congratulations
to Rhoda Wong, CPCU, Boston chapter webmaster, and all who assist
her in generating chapter news and preparing it for publication
on the web site.
Webmaster’s
Tip: Rhoda says,
Content is the number-one priority! To build content for the
web, the webmaster needs to know everything that is going on in
the chapter. The webmaster becomes the central bulletin board!
All officers and committees must keep me informed of messages
that need to get out and activities being planned so they can
appear on the web site as soon as possible.
By
keeping our web site calendar up to date, the site always is fresh.
The “site updates” and “next 5 events”
areas on the home page show the visitor at a glance when something
has been added. We also use the e-mail feature and send e-mail
messages to the membership twice a month directing them to new
information on the web site. Photography is important and helps
member networking even for those who cannot attend events. The
chapter purchased a digital camera and it is taken to every event
so we can have photo coverage.
We
try to make it as easy as possible for our busy members to get
the information they need on our web site – our goal is
that they will want to become more involved in the Boston Chapter.
